Dry Skin







Dry skin is a common condition marked by dehydrated dry skin, other symptoms like scaling, itching, and cracking can also be seen. It is caused by skin inability to retain moisture and oil to keep it soft and supple. Generally, it appears with ageing but it occurs at an early age also due to various reasons like heredity, lifestyle, and others.

Dry Skin Reasons
  • Heredity: People with the heredity of dry skin can get it at an early age.
  • Environment: Environmental factors like low humidity sudden temperature change.
  • Lifestyle: Bad lifestyle 
  • Diet: Unhealthy junk food.
  • Cosmetics: use of harsh cosmetics or cleansers which strip away essential oil and moisture from the skin leaving it dry.

  • Skin feels flaky and dull

  • Prone to allergies and irritation
  • Itchy skin
  • Develops wrinkle faster 

Remedies for Dry Skin
  • Avoid harsh over drying cleansers, excessive scrubbing or hot water while cleansing.
  • Gentle exfoliation will help remove dead flaky skin followed by gentle alcohol-free toner and moisturiser that help to soften, lubricate and restore moisture of the skin.
  • Avoid daylight exposure without applying sunscreen containing zinc oxide with minimum SPF30
  • Avoid excessive smoking, alcohol and caffeine that cause dehydration.
  • Use intense repairing night cream that helps in retaining moisture for a long time.
  • Home remedies like honey, olive oil, milk cream, coconut oil, yoghurt can be a greater natural relief from dry skin.
